Walls…Blockades…Obstacles…Impassable…Impossible…Walls…
- The walls say:
- Stay Out (of here)…
- Stay In (your place)…
- Stay Back (far away)…
…and God whispers, again, “stay”
I can’t break through these walls… the people on the other side won’t break through these walls… and these walls are blocking my way – what’s a body to do? I’ll tell you what we do – we look to the One who’s famous for breaking down walls – That’s what we do!!
So, someone joined me today, sat down beside me and said: “I’m at a wall, and I don’t know what to do – I don’t know how to get to what the Lord has already said is on the other side, because I can’t see a way over, under, around, or through…this WALL!”
Yup, I’m right there with ya, caught another look at the wall just yesterday, was getting excited about walking through the gate a few steps over in that direction, but it turns out the gate’s locked, of course. Yesterday, I thought, y’know, we’ve got a God who breaks down walls. These walls are slowing down several workers ready to do some harvesting while the crops are still ripe. Maybe we should ask God to do something about these walls…He’s done it before…
{cue music: Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho; Joshua fought the battle of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down!}
So, I asked – “would you be willing to walk around these walls with me, for 7 days, and pray that God will break down the walls that are getting in the way of His workers reaching His communities with His message in their language?” It’s an encouraging message she needed today, and she’s the encouraging message I needed today (to add to the encouraging message I got yesterday). So, we’re walking.
You can come with us if you like, literally or figuratively. We’re walking quietly, around our mini-city, praying over one wall at a time, looking forward to the shout after the 7 laps on day 7, just like Joshua at Jericho. We serve a God who breaks down walls, so that He can deliver to the overcomers that which He has already promised: a life abundant, complete with assignments that He has specifically designed us for, and designed for us.
Today’s wall, a big high one, is health. There are several people with almost crippling health issues that stand as barriers to reach the ones we’ve been called to serve. So we pray, today, that God will break down the health barriers that keep us from serving and/or training fully. He who made the bodies knows how to heal them, and if He chooses not to heal, His grace is sufficient to see us through, even through the health wall – Lord, break ’em down!
Tomorrow’s wall: Discouragement… and God told Joshua, at least 3 times, “Be Strong and Courageous, I am with you.”
